THE JIM BISHOP MEMORIAL AWARD

Coaching Staff of the Year

Jim is regarded as Lacrosse's all-time greatest and most successful coach. Jim began his coaching career in 1946 with stops in Oakville, Toronto, Mimico, Newmarket, Huntsville, Oshawa and finally Whitby. Jim founded the Green Gaels organization and his Junior "A" Gaels won the Minto Cup in their first SEVEN years in Oshawa (1963 to 1969). In 1997 Jim led the Whitby Warriors to his EIGHTH MINTO CUP. Jim is the only person to receive The "Tip" Teather Award, Mr. Lacrosse, twice (1969 & 1991). Jim was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1969.
