THE JOHN "GUS" McCAULEY
MEMORIAL AWARD - BRAMPTON

Outstanding Defensive Player

John began playing lacrosse in Brampton at the age of four and as he progressed through the minors, it became very clear that he would become one of Brampton's all-time greats. John won three Minto Cups and in 1959 he became the only player in C.L.A. history to win a Minto Cup in his second year Bantam <14 years old>. John left lacrosse in 1968 to pursue a career as an N.H.L. referee. In 1970, John returned to lacrosse as a coach, and continued until 1984 coaching minor, Junior "A" and Major in Brampton. He coached Brampton to a Mann Cup win in 1980. John was inducted into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame in l997.
