John
began playing lacrosse in Brampton at the age
of four and as he progressed through the minors,
it became very clear that he would become one
of Brampton's all-time greats. John won three
Minto Cups and in 1959 he became the only player
in C.L.A. history to win a Minto Cup in his second
year Bantam <14 years old>. John left lacrosse
in 1968 to pursue a career as an N.H.L. referee.
In 1970, John returned to lacrosse as a coach,
and continued until 1984 coaching minor, Junior
"A" and Major in Brampton. He coached
Brampton to a Mann Cup win in 1980. John was inducted
into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 1990
and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame in l997.
